Aviation Scholarships

In keeping with the Mansfield Aviation Club's stated purpose to foster an interest in aviation in our community, and to "provide aviation scholarships for others to learn to fly," the club applied for and was granted Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Section 501 c (3) "Non-Profit" status in 2016. This status has enabled the club to accept tax deductible donations in order to establish a fund for the purpose of providing aviation scholarships. To donate, visit the Richland County Foundation website at the link below.

In addition to a generous donation by one of our club members to get the fund started, the club is also being assisted by the Richland County Foundation which will administer both the Aviation Scholarship Fund and scholarship applications.

Applications for aviation scholarships may be submitted by individuals 16 years of age or older, who are U.S. citizens, hold a current FAA student pilot Certificate, and reside in Richland or adjoining counties. Applications will be accepted between January 1 - April 1. To apply, click on the Richland County Foundation link below and complete the form.

Following the application submission deadline of April 1 each year, the MAC Scholarship Committee will meet and conduct interviews as necessary to select the winning candidate(s), which will be announced during the July 4th weekend each year. This year, MAC will give one $1000 award (details for how the scholarship will be administered will be provided during the interview process).

Mansfield has enjoyed a rich heritage in aviation and has an outstanding airport. Providing these scholarships is a positive way of supporting aviation in our community well into the future.
